PTSD Coach
Redesigning the most popular app for PTSD management.
Challenge: PTSD Coach is an overwhelming experience—for people already overwhelmed.
Work with the Department of Veterans Affairs to bring the outdated app into 2016.
Project Specs:
Duration: 2.5 weeks
Team: Three UX designers working with two consultants for the VA
My Role: I had primary responsibility for qualitative user research, prototyping, and redesigning the onboarding experience; my sketches from design studio formed the basis of our redesign strategy.
Goals:
The VA’s stated goals for the project were simply “to improve the overall user experience and engagement.”
Project Constraints:
-The app must be self-contained—it cannot store data off-device or pull content from a server.
-The app must work for users experiencing active PTSD symptoms
-Brand Standards were not a project constraint
